Now the rest of us will have to pay the piper for their misdeeds. The new 990 form which will take effect in 2009 is just the beginning. Fortunately the vast majority of nonprofits are run by people with high morals and a great sense of integrity. These organizations have nothing to fear. What I fear is that the bad blood will cast a dark shadow over all in the nonprofit world - even those that operate efffective and efficient organizations... We will all have to stay tuned on this one.Oculus Directwww.oculusdirect.com/blognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32407867.post-34848551835160138772008-08-31T19:24:00.000-05:002008-08-31T19:24:00.000-05:00Amen! It charges donors as much as 25 cents on the dollar for what modern online giving can do for 6 cents. It spends precious time and resources on committees and reports that waste time and resources and doesn't provide any tangible benefit. If it doesn't find a reason to exist, then the dollars it's soaking up are better sent elsewhere into the community where they can do some good.James M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12049197461864964346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32407867.post-82762230028021108342008-08-31T09:00:00.000-05:002008-08-31T09:00:00.000-05:00Yes, I agree paying Everette 20K a month continues...Yes, I agree paying Everette 20K a month continues down the same path of excess. If he truly cared about the org, he would be donating his time. He was a successful bank exec and lives a very comfortable lifestyle. I just find it hard to believe that he is worth basically 1k a day if you figure a M-F work week. I live in Charlotte and this appears to be more of the same. They would have been better off bringing in someone from Uway of America or a person with no ties to United Way or this community. I also agree about a board overhall. This entire incident is so sad - as the only losers are the people that depend on the resources of the donations.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
